Home Monitoring Security

Safety begins at home. Home monitoring security is essential to protect your family and your possessions.

To protect your family and your possessions, you should think seriously of having home monitoring security.  This means you need to have an alarm system installed in your home, and then have that system hooked to a central monitoring station.  The central monitoring station will, with the help of your home alarm system, keep watch over your house night and day.

You should first determine if you want a wired or wireless security system.  If your house is already fully built, it may be too time consuming and costly to install a wired security system.  You would need to cut through walls and tear apart the house to get wires installed, and this could be rather expensive and messy. For a home that has already been constructed, wireless is the way to go.

After deciding to install home security monitoring, you fist need to decide where you want the control panel and the keypads to go.  Next, you should decide how many doors and windows you want to be hooked to the system.  You should also decide on whether or not you want to have a motion detector inside the house.  Other options would be to include smoke and gas detectors.  You can also choose to have a siren or a similar type of outside noise maker to frighten intruders away.  Getting as many of the options as you can afford offers the most security.

When your alarm detects an intruder, the control panel will send any relevant information to the home monitoring security station over the phone lines.  The central station calls your home to find out if anything is wrong.  If you or someone answers, they will ask for a previously agreed upon password.  If they do not get the correct password, they will then contact the police or the appropriate security personnel.  They may also contact someone who you designated as a key holder; a  neighbor or a friend who has a key and access to your home.

Usually when your alarm goes off, your home monitoring security system allows enough time for you to enter in a password.  For example, you get up in the morning a little groggy and forget to disable your alarm.  You then open the back door to let the dog out and your alarm starts whining.  You should have 30 - 45 seconds to get to your control panel and punch in the password.  This turns off the alarm and tells the home monitoring security station that it was only a mistake and not a real emergency.  This helps to cut down on the number of false alarms which can be costly to your police department and to you (they may charge you if you have a certain number of false alarms).  If you do not enter in the designated password, that is when the monitoring company gives you a call.

A home monitoring security system will offer you and your family piece of mind that your loved ones and your possessions are protected.  For a small monthly fee, your home will be secure 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, whether you are home or not.
